What is Art Therapy?

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art in the session to help the client get out of their head and into their heart.  And it's not just for artists! Art Therapy is for anyone who has a desire to harness the power of creativity on their journey towards healing.


Who is Art Therapy for?

Art Therapy is for adults, adolescents, and children who are experiencing mental health concerns, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, and life changes. 


What happens in an Art Therapy session?

This looks different for every client! Often, the session will involve a combination of talking, art-making (by the client, the therapist, or both together), and sometimes movement or breathing exercises.  


What approaches do you use?

My approach to therapy is trauma-informed and person-centered, meaning I take great care to implement a treatment plan that is unique to you and your unique life experiences.  


Are you covered by insurance?

Some insurance providers provide coverage for mental health professionals depending on the regulatory body they belong to.  To find out if you are covered, contact your insurance provider and ask if they cover Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying).
